This is a new song of the week, since I haven’t done one in a while. Sorry for the lack of posts, I’ve been swamped with work and frankly, I’ve been a little overwhelmed with existence. Naturally, when that happens, I dissolve into an apathetic/vaguely irritated malaise and disappear into the things that bring me some semblance of joy. I’ve been working, making music (more on that below), watching movies/television, and reading. This song of the week captures how I feel and have felt pretty well. This is Song Of The Week: “AT&T” by Liquid Mike, from the 2025 album, Hell Is An Airport.

I discovered this tune just recently, watching the new season of Tires, this song plays over the credits of an episode. Immediately, it struck a chord with me and I knew I had to seek it out proper. Sure enough, it’s just a very good song that resonated with me (among others), and musically captured my general state of being; its the sound of days off going by too fast and work hours going by too slow. It’s got a vaguely nostalgic tone, the turntables (big fan of turntables and scratching) and Pop Punk attitude definitely give it kind of a late 90’s, early 00’s flare. One friend of mine (photographer extraordinaire and local legend: James Montero) enjoyed it when I shared it with him, remarking that it was suited for a Tony Hawk video game. I think for me, it sort of feels like wading through life; you’re fatigued, you’re alone, and you’re just trying to hold it together (for your sake and everyone else’s too). The song is kind of an acknowledgment and protest against that, to me. Life is tiring, the routine sucks, but it’s going to be okay and you’re not alone either. At least that’s what I’m choosing to project on to it. Song is good, album is good, check out the band. Tires is really good too, I’d urge anyone to watch it. Great blend of offensive/cringe comedy, sincere writing, and quality music.

Also worth mentioning, I recently used this song to accompany an Instagram post (pretty sure you’ll only hear it if you have the app, Instagram on PC is bizarre). That post detailed my current goings-on, as well as the announcement of my first full-length album in 7 years, Aqua Blue. You can check out that post below and see what I had to say.

Aqua Blue. Available everywhere, September 18th. Be there or be square.

Thanks for reading.
