A happy 9th birthday to Hideaways, my 2017 EP. Hard to believe this little EP is almost 10 years old, it’s one of my eldest musical children. I’ve done the song and dance a million times about where I was and how my life was going at the time of its release (this might better cover it), but to be 9 years removed from that is quite something. Time marches on, with or without you. I’ve lived a lot of life, I’ve loved and lost in that time, I’ve seen failure and success in that time. I don’t feel much need to look back on it right now, not today. It’s come and gone, it’s the past. What a road it’s been, though, and I look forward to where that road goes next.

Speaking of which, I suppose now is as good a time as any to say that I’m still in that ever-consistent creative freefall that I’ve been in. I have a lot of ideas, a lot of projects, a lot of things I’ve been working on and off (some of which for multiple years now), and nothing concrete to really show for it. Even the thing I last spoke about, a single, it’s changed shape and is no longer coming out as I described it. C’est la vie, that’s the way life is. Philosophically, I suppose there’s a reason for it, and everything will happen as it is intended to happen and no other way at all. I don’t know where the road goes from here but I’ll go where it takes me. To quote Prefab Sprout: they say the spirit moves in mysterious ways, sometimes the way it moves looks plain berserk. When I do have something (something concrete) , you’ll be the first to know.

Until then, I’ll keep working and writing. Thank you for reading and thank you for listening. Enjoy yourself. Get outside, see a film, play some music, tell someone you love them, pet a cat or dog, whatever you like.
