Paradise, the sixth in a long line of new releases commemorating 10 years of Faint Waves music.
From the unambiguous name to the minimalist artwork, Paradise somewhat defies the conventional trappings of Faint Waves. It plays into the very groundwork lain by FW and those that have continually inspired him, but never quite approaches caricature or self-parody. Rather, Paradise seeks to be pure or at least a distillation of Faint Waves, eclectic as it may be. From the satisfying post-punk tinged guitar of “Silent Shore”, to the kitschy twang of “Nude Beach”. From the Icehouse inspired “Dream Forever”, to the New Order inspired “Technique”. It’s a sun dappled, nature-ridden, otherworldly, leftfield amalgam. In other words, it’s pure Faint Waves.
And remember…
Paradise lies eternally within the person who dreams of it. So, keep dreaming.
Paradise is out now on Bandcamp, everywhere else Friday.
